Catching up, part three - Joe + Jo

Just a week after shooting Clare and Tom's wedding, I was in (VERY) sunny Portugal to photograph Joe and Jo's special day.
Strong colours are somehow easier to pull off in the bright sunlight.
Above, and below, are two of my favourite portraits of all time, let alone from my wedding work.
The bride's little sister demonstrates the bouquets.
The ceremony and reception took place at Casa Fajara, a boutique hotel in Carrapateira, and is a highly recommended spot next time you're in the Western Algarve.
I love that little smile that all grooms get after they've taken a peek back over their shoulders towards their bride.
Not a terrible location, huh?
A Brazilian tradition is to turn your back on the bride and groom in the photos...not sure what that one's all about!
 Some necessary cooling-down pool time.
Palm trees providing the ideal graphic framing and spot of shade for some bride and groom portraits.
And of course, what with a Brazilian/Portugese group, you know the party's going to be great!
Earlier in the day this gentleman had been lassoing the rodeo bull!

FRIDAY FLOWERS

Here are some mad tropical flowers against a shadowy white wall for you. Aren't the orange and grey delicious together? So Seventies.
Of course these were shot in my new favourite place, Portugal. Ah ha, you thought I was done with those endless pictures, didn't you?

Happy Friday to us all. I am off to pick up some prints and then drink wine in the garden. It's a tough life.

Carrapateira, aka Wonderland

It's been a couple of weeks since I returned from a trip to Portugal and I'm still daydreaming about this lovely land. The photographs below are from a week my family and I spent near Carrapateira in the Algarve. Our tiny hamlet, Vilarinha, consisted of six or so houses, all beautifully renovated.
