The Rubberbandits at Shakespeare's Globe

Last month I shot The Rubberbandits who you would probably know best for their hit Horse Outside (video starts automatically, lyrics NSFW!). Their show at the newly completed, very beautiful, and everso lofty Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, a second venue at Shakespeare's Globe, runs Friday and Saturday this week.

Our friend Wikipedia describes the 'Bandits rather primly as a 'comedy hip-hop duo from Limerick, Ireland', which is sort of how I imagine my grandmother might boil them down. Their work is filthy and funny, the costumes mildly terrifying, and underneath all the plastic bags they're lovely, polite, hard-working fellas who were a pleasure to shoot with. The programming team for the Playhouse have punted a fair way into left field with this one and it should be superfun to see the 'Bandits do their thing amid wood-panelled, candle-lit splendour.

Tickets available here. Below is a bonus shot of the jaw-dropping hand-painted ceiling of the Playhouse.

Clean Break on location in Hackney

More publicity images; this time for the brilliant theatre company Clean Break's new production Pests. Shot at a fabulous / scuzzy / stinky / dream location - an abandoned block of flats in Hackney. I ran up and down the stairs looking for good spots for photographing and there were almost too many to choose from.
Writer Vivienne Franzmann.
Sinéad Matthews as Pink and Ellie Kendrick as Rolly.
Director Lucy Morrison.

I joined the trailer shoot to take these photos; the design was by Joanna Scotcher with lighting design by Fabiana Piccioli.

The play opens today and runs until June: for tour stops and to book tickets visit the Clean Break website

Put a pineapple on it

Oh sure, as if YOU don't stop in the middle of the day to take photos of the thing you're cooking your friends for supper.
