I was at new client Clean Break last week, photographing their show Dream Pill. It's a very hard-hitting but delicately written and superbly performed piece about two small Nigerian girls who have been trafficked into the UK. The two actors did a wonderful job of conveying this confusing and heartbreaking situation from a child's-eye perspective. At the end of the usual session of production photographs the company asked me to shoot a couple of more portrait-style images of the new cast. Luckily for me, the rehearsal room had beautiful oblique light - I was mentally converting the space to a daylight studio like Irving Penn's (below). I would be a happy photographer if I could shoot everything on a 50mm lens with nothing but natural light!
